hi there clifford.. let me help you with your query pare.. better get the 3.0L DuraTORQ 4x4 Ford Everest Limited.. it's the best 3.0L 4x4 Diesel SUV on the market, it has a great ride, interior and most of all, it's the best CRDi diesel engine there is because it packs a lot of power when you need it the most and it's very economical.. no offense pero ang Alterra kasi, masyadong outdated na ang body at interior niya.. yung current Fortuner naman, gwapo ang labas at loob pero matagtag naman, para kang naka-Mitsubishi Adventure.. yan yung tipong kapag bumili ka ng brand new, pagkalabas mo sa CASA eh palit ka agad ng Old Man Emu Shocks & Springs which is not worth it kasi brand new.. ang Montero Sport naman, puro porma lang pare pero ang computer box location niyan eh nasa lower-right portion ng dashboard niya, sa may flooring which is a very, very bad design kasi kapag nilusong mo sa baha at tinamaan yung comp. box niya, patay ka!!

isa pa, kapag tinamaan ang main comp. box niya, damay na yung ibang slave comp. boxes niya and you would spend aroud P150,000 for all of it to be replaced.. basta if i were you pare, get the current Ford Everest nalang.. yung titanium gray color!! if you're really decided on getting one, let me know because i know somebody from Ford Edsa.. i can give you his contact number.. just tell him that you were referred by joseph flores.. bottomline, get the Everest..

for me, i would go for the fortuner or montero sport... yup matagtag nga yung fortuner pero maganda na yung ride ng current facelifted model...

siguro naman bro di mo naman ilulusong sa ""above the knee"" na baha on a regular basis ang suv mo? so i dont think the location of the ecu of the montero would be a problem... and i think most vehicles naman dun ang location ng mga ecu...

if pangmatagalan mo balak gamitin ang suv, then go for the japanese makes because parts are easier to source out... easier to maintain too

i agree with hell's kitchen sa alterra, medyo outdated na and hindi maganda ang tindig ng suv na yun.

you have a point there paolo.. you're also right, hindi ko naman ilulusong sa above knee level but if you really get the chance to take a close look at it, the location of the Montero's ECU is really bad, cyempre there will be instances wherein you really have to wade through flood waters so you can arrvie at your dstination.. eh what it for example floodwater starts to enter the car and reaches the flooring? yun lang ang point ko.. the Montero's design is impressive i must say, both the exterior and interior aspects but the ECU design is really bad. a lot of people who have the current and previous Everest models all have positive reviews about it's performance & durability.. anyway, it depends on clfford's decision but i'd still go for the Everest..

philip, between the current Pajero and the Patrol Super-Safari, better go for the Pajero nalang because it's 101% made in Japan so you'll be assured of a good-quality 4x4 SUV but you might also want to consider the brand new Toyota Prado.. it's only about P500K difference from the current Pajero.. with regards to your question about the two Fortuner variants, the Fortuner G uses the
2.7 VVT-i gas engine which is not fuel-efficient, it averages about 5.5km/l but the 3.0L V6 averages about 6.5km/L. the 2.7 VVT-i consumes a lot of gas compared to a 3.0L V6 engine. the Fortuner V uses the 3.0 D4-D Diesel engine which is more fuel-efficient than the 2.7 VVT-i but i'd rather consider the current Everest because all Fortuners, including the facelifted one, has a very bumpy ride, like a Mitsubishi Adventure.. u still have to change the Fortuner's shocks and springs to improve it's ride.

i agree with hell's kitchen.. pajero. maganda rin naman ang super safari though yung body year 99 pa ata if im not mistaken? facelifted lang ng nissan (change lights etc)... at least yung current pajero bago na ang body. bili ka na lang ng 2 suv philip para may pang coding ka.hehe

Clifford,

The new Fortuner has better suspension now because the bumpy ride complaint was already addressed by Toyota. Interior has also been changed to all leather seats in all variants.

Try to test drive a compact SUV like Honda CRV. Maintenance cost is cheaper. You can also try the Nissan X-Trail Tokyo Edition. It's now on Sale. There is no point in getting an SUV that runs on Diesel if there is no Diesel available on gas stations in the first place. Statistics would show that the price of Diesel increases more than the standard Petrol.

Most of the people I know complain about the maintenance cost of diesel engines. It's even cheaper to maintain a 2nd hand Ford Expedition than the new Montero Sport. At any rate, there is no SUV that can beat the King of the Road and that is the Landrover Rangerover, you can get a pre-owned 1997 unit for less than Php 1 million.

Hope this helps.
