I have nissan frontier 2002 2WD, had the brakes service last wednesday and the mechanic noticed that both tie rod end is moving, he also check the center link and recommends that the tie rod end assembly (inner & ounter), center link & ilder bushing be replaced cause it might fail anytime. As of now i don't experienced vibration on the steering but notice metal noise during turning. How would I know that these parts has to be replaced? especially the center link. Would you recomend 555 brand for replacment part? where could I find these parts & how would I know its really a 555 brand not a fake or an imitation? Am from mindanao, zambo city. Thanks!

John,

Your mechanic's recommendation is a safe one -like replacing all essential parts of the steering system. This way, of course, is an easy one. But i suggest you yourself look into the trouble closer. Like, you should see the tie rods, rack ends, bushing, etc. Seeing how they disassemble will help you understand why there's a sound when you steer the wheel. You may just be overwhelmed by the comments of the mechanic. Make your test or simulation of the sound you mentioned while the truck is lifted. In this way, maybe you can realize where it comes from. Lubrication may just be the solution to your problem.
